COSMIC’s Construction Project Improves Innovation Capabilities

VT-ARC’s Commercial Space Marketplace for Innovation and Collaboration (COSMIC) has a mission to support the U.S. Space Force’s (USSF) Space Systems Command in optimizing collaboration between the government, industry, and academia. Though COSMIC officially opened on June 6 of this year, the COSMIC team has completed construction improvements to exploit the latest in virtual technologies and facilitate events regardless of the attendees’ distance and location.

The 10,000 square foot facility is an unclassified environment that encourages impactful interaction and information exchange. COSMIC provides a centralized platform for coalition partners, foreign industry representatives, and academia to collaborate seamlessly and share vital information, ultimately accelerating the Tech Transfer and Transition process across various sectors.

COSMIC’s multiple conference rooms have been expanded to offer flexible spaces for both formal and informal discussions, ensuring that teams can meet and strategize efficiently. The facility also features a large open space perfect for hosting large gatherings, workshops, and other events fostering creativity and innovation. The open area will also feature a wall of LCD panel displays, making it an ideal space for engaging presentations and data sharing.

Further technological improvements are forthcoming. The new, completely integrated audiovisual system will enhance the quality of presentations and collaborations and includes a centralized control method to streamline operations and improve user experience. New dual zone integrated ceiling speakers will be placed throughout the facility, ensuring clear and crisp audio. In addition, state-of-the-art augmented reality capabilities will be integrated to provide immersive and interactive experiences for users.

With its ability to transcend geographical boundaries, COSMIC will continue to evolve and leverage cutting-edge technologies, fostering collaborative excellence. This remarkable facility is a testament to the dedication of VT-ARC and the USSF, working together to shape the future of collaborative space exploration.
